We’re in the midst of Award season, which means that studios are slowly releasing PDFs of some of this year’s top contenders. Scott Myers, who runs the popular screenwriting blog Go Into the Story, annually complies a handy list of these PDFs as they are released online. As you start to create your “Best of” lists for 2013, these PDFs will prove an invaluable resource.
In recognition of this year of excess at the movies, we take the opportunity to highlight notable scenes (in their script format) from three of the showiest releases of the year: Spring Breakers, The Bling Ring and The Great Gatsby.
Spring Breakers (Harmony Korine)
Who can forget the robbery scene? It would be hard to, as it was repeated several times in the film. After watching all the crazy cuts and overlays in the film, we wondered what the screenplay looked like.
The Bling Ring (Sofia Coppola)
Sofia Coppola tackles teen indulgence and celebrity culture (Marie Antoinette, anyone?). The script reads like a letter from Queen Sofia herself.
The Great Gatsby (Baz Luhrmann and Craig Pearce)
Luhrmann's colorful, extravagant Gatsby was the subject of much debate. Read the bobbing, weaving, and zooming in all its glory.
