Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld
Highlighted by the likes of The New Yorker and Filmmaker Magazine, Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair’s brainchild High Maintenance is a wildly funny webseries that’s tailor-made for the internet. Starring Sinclair as a pot deliveryman simply credited as “The Guy,” each episode of the series follows this nameless dealer as he delivers to his clients throughout New York City. Yet despite its straightforward concept, Blichfeld and Sinclair’s finely-tuned series hilariously dissects the craving for privacy in the city, and it’s conflict with a craving of a different kind. Originally turning to the internet as a low budget, FCC-free space to connect directly with the audience for their specific brand of references and humor, High Maintenance's creators now believe the online space will eventually take over the market completely. In the mean time, they are developing a new short-form series, this time set on the west coast, which they intend to also premiere online. Blichfeld and Sinclair credit their creativity to their restricted budgets, as well as a wealth of influences as wide ranging as Vinterberg's THE CELEBRATION and the work of Steven Soderbergh to web series crossover hit Broad City and bizarro comedy kings Tim & Eric's YouTube channel JASH.
