How my affinity for chickens first took shape, I can only speculate. Regardless, it took a strong hold of me from an early age. For math class, sometime in elementary school, I wrote a book called "Star Chicken," complete with illustrations. The book featured the heroic Star Chicken, who retrieves her stolen eggs from the Evil Butcher by boggling him with, retrospectively, incredibly simple math equations. Apparently the butcher wasn't great with numbers. Coincidentally, I have never been either.
As many of you know, making a film is an exciting and challenging process—the product of which is forever up for interpretation. Hopefully this film will speak to some truth you have experienced. I'm honored to have worked with such an outstandingly talented cast and crew, without whom this film would not exist. I'm so grateful to everyone who supported me.
For those who are curious, Athena was a week old when we first met and was lovingly raised for the purpose of this film. She currently lives in a coop in my backyard with her friend Thelma.
