"An action sequence well done on film is like listening to a symphony," Quentin Tarantino has observed. "And when the symphony builds up to a certain point, it explodes." With the dazzling, deliriously violent Kill Bill Vol. 1 and Vol. 2, Tarantino has composed a magnum opus, a rhapsody of visceral (and visual) delights, anchored by Uma Thurman's physical marvel of a performance, with elements drawn from various genres--spaghetti Westerns, exploitation, kung fu, and yakuza gangster films, as well as the grindhouse cinema of the director's 1970s youth. This special screening presents Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 back to back with a brief intermission, so Tarantinophiles and newcomers alike can follow the saga of the Bride's quest for vengeance as it unfolds in all its hyperkinetic glory.
