There are probably few places in the world where it's more difficult to be a transexual than in the Islamic Republic of Iran. Inside Out follows three Iranians-a middle-aged woman, a high school drop out, and an unemployed newlywed-as they undergo their internal and external metamorphoses.

Born and raised in Iran, Zohreh Shayesteh left during the 1978 Revolution and became a permanent New York City resident in 1981. She studied film production at New York University and has worked as a TV producer and director for local New York City TV stations. She also wrote and directed two independent shorts, Requiem and Agha Joon, which were both selected for numerous national and international festivals. Inside Out is her first short documentary.
